Every week I make a mental To Do List of all the little and big things that need to get done. It’s a Mon – Fri list that keeps me on track. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. I do leave room for changes but I’m not the type that schedules rest. A week ago when I was sick with a bad cold my To Do List was not coming along. I was upset. In private I pouted and blamed myself for being frail, unable to complete my tasks. Once the pity party seized I was ready to hear God’s perspective. I’ve allowed sin to creep into my life by disobeying His command for rest. Not deliberately; I just kept reacting to things and needs that were coming my way. Consequently I was depleted and sin had produced the fruit of sadness, impatience and disappointment. I had bought into the idea that as long as I am doing that which is good, taking care of my family, the ministry, my day job, etc., Christ will give me the strength to keep on going. The truth is He does but I am no wonder woman, I cannot run 24/7. I cannot do all things through Christ unless I take rest. Rest is one of the ways through which God strengthens me. So now with the help of my Savior I add to my To Do List - Rest. I have not arrived yet, I still have to shush once on a while the wonder woman in me. But as a daughter of the Most High King whatever happens I want to conduct myself (on the inside and the outside) in a manner worthy of the Gospel.
"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ." Php 1:27 (NIV)
Thank you for joining me on this journey of discovering how sin disfigures our hearts, minds, relationships and daily faith walk. My prayer is that despite setbacks our hearts will stay open towards God, so we can hear and follow His instructions. Will you allow God to shine His light into your day to day?
Walk with God and glorify His name.
