Facebook is malfunctioning for past 2 days (hopefully IT will fix the problem soon). In the meantime my words of encouragement for today will be posted here:
When I was a baby Christian, Jer 6:16 quickly became one of my favorite verses to live by - “Thus says God, stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.” That works real well as long as life is calm and I have time to pray over things for couple of days. But we all know well that life is like a sea sometimes calm and other times stormy. So lately I find myself longing for rest. True rest – being certain that I’m in the middle of God’s will. Rest - knowing that I am not making a mess out of things. My Aha moment came after reading Matt 14:29-31: “He said, ‘Come ahead.’ Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, ‘Master, save me!’ Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then he said, “Faint-heart, what got into you?” (MSG) I don’t know where you are today but if we live our lives based on Jer 6:16 we can REST on the fact that if God has called us to it He will sustain us in it.
“Faint-heart, what got into you?” – I took my eyes off of Jesus and focused on the churning waves beneath. Where is your focus today?
Walk with God and glorfy His name.
My prayer is that this will be a place where you find hope and nourishment for your soul.
