To one he gave five talents [probably about $5,000], to another two, to another one—to each in proportion to his own personal ability. Matthew 25:15
For the past couple of days I’ve been meditating on Psalm 100, asking myself number of questions. Often we praise and thank God for granting our petitions but I wonder how often we stop to thank Him for the unmerited favor of talent/s He has entrusted upon us. How many of us really take the time to reexamine, position, and act on it or we just watch the gift/s wilt?
Have you thanked God lately for the talent/s He has blessed you with? Sometimes we allow fear to paralyze us, we hide our heads in the sand where the gift/s is choked lifeless. Other times our admiration for others causes us to chase their shadow. Such endeavors leave us weary and empty. In God’s economy there are no small or big gifts, there are only used or berried talents.
Have we adopted someone else’s view of who we are? Self-perception can build us up or tear us down. Recognizing the uniqueness we’ve been created with liberates us to find pure delight in who He intended us to be. Psalm 100 is a song of joyful thanksgiving that spring from the realization that God’s fingerprints are all over our existence. Each talent is an unmerited favor. May we not allow fear, chasing shadows or incorrect self-perception wilt the gift/s God has placed in us.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100
Walk with God and glorify His name.
