Day9: El Shaddai - The All Sufficient One!
Reading plan for today: Gen17:1-3, Mt19:26, Lk1:37, 2Co12:9, Php1:20
God promised Abraham that his descendants will be so many that they would be impossible to count. It past 25 years before that promise was fulfilled in Isaac. Abraham and Sarah were beyond the age of bearing children. They have reached the end of themselves; in the natural the promise was impossible. Reaching the end of oneself means that there is nothing you or anyone else can do to change the circumstances that overwhelm you. It is one of the most humbling experiences and one of the greatest encounters with God. It is the realization that unless God intervenes this is it and you slowly start to release your grip. It is at this point that your situation becomes the prayer. If you are in that place, face to face with your limitations and your heart is aching – release that which you are holding so tight. Many times we exhaust ourselves trying to help God. If He can create the world out of nothing then surely He has more than enough power to rescue you from the circumstances that have you cornered. In His perfect will God decides when the right time to intervene is. In the meantime while waiting there is a lesson to be learned. What is the lesson the Lord is trying to teach you: obedience, patience, humility, compassion, responsibility, self-control, how to pray, how to praise and worship Him in all situations? The most important lesson is that our God is relational; His arm is outstretched waiting for you to hold Him. Regardless how long it takes and what is His answer walk by faith and not by sight, rest in His strength. He is El Shaddai and His presence in our lives is sufficient.
Dear God, I praise you for being El Shaddai. I come before you humbly, heavy laden and overburdened about _______ situation. I have reached the end of myself. I release my grip at your feet, please sustain me. Thank you for your presence and giving me peace. Help me not to fret and my heart be troubled. Open my eyes so I can grasp the lesson you are trying to teach me in this circumstances. All Sufficient One, you have promised that those who love and follow you will not be put to shame but will have sufficient courage to face and overcome the dreadful situations in this life. Turn my darkness into light and may all that I go through brings you glory. In the name of Jesus’ I pray. Amen.
Walk with God and glorify His name.
My prayer is that this will be a place where you find hope and nourishment for your soul.
