Yesterday I received my 1st Happy Mother’s Day card from my daughter. It was a project she worked on with her teacher. The moment I opened the card tears filled my eyes. So many emotions were rushing through me. The little green hand prints reminded me of her very 1st hand and foot print at the hospital where she was born. Two years have passed since then and it seems just like yesterday. Now she is a “big” girl, the wobbly steps are replaced by dancing and running, the go-go words have turned into songs, the little fingers that use to cling so tight around my finger are now creating awesome paintings. She is not a baby anymore…. Mixed feelings of missing the baby stage and joy from the blessings that the now brings filled my heart.
Once we got home and Hannah was down for her nap I started to unpack her schoolbag and as I placed the Mommy card on display again tears trickled down my cheeks. I kneeled and thanked God for the undeserved great blessing and honor of being a mom. I prayed for His wisdom and help in raising Hannah into a God-fearing, respectable and successful lady . . . Silently I shared with Him my hearts cry - how badly I don’t want to fail as a mom. I use to jokingly say kids don’t come with instructions and if by any chance they do I must have lost mine in the delivery room. But yesterday in the silence during the little time I spent on my knees God softly whispered to my heart – Daughter, I gave you instructions that are tested and true, the Bible is all that you need to teach and guide that little heart of mine. How blessed and privileged we are to have God’s own words to guide and protect, to strengthen and cheer, to correct and love.
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Ps 127:3 NLT
We wish all of you a Blessed Mother’s Day.
Walk with God and glorify His name
My prayer is that this will be a place where you find hope and nourishment for your soul.
